The Practice will normally agree to accept patients requesting to join our list who live in the area bounded by Ayr, Prestwick, Dunure (excluding Craig Tara Holiday Park), Coylton and Minishant.   

Where the Practice has accepted an application for inclusion on its list, it shall:

• Notify the patient (or, in the case of a child or incapable adult, the person making the application on their behalf) of the patient’s right to express a preference to receive services from a particular practitioner or class of practitioner either generally or in relation to any particular condition; and
• Record in writing any such preference expressed by or on behalf of the patient.

The receptionist will give you three documents:-

1. A GPR (Application to Register with the General Practice) which you can complete online and send to Clinical_Practice_3RacecourseRoad_80096@aapct.scot.nhs.uk
2. A Medical History Questionnaire 
3. Ethnic Origin Questionnaire

When all of the completed documents are received by the receptionist, they will then invite you to attend for a 20 minute appointment for a New Patient Registration Examination with the Practice Nurse.  You will be provided with a urine bottle to bring along with you to this appointment.

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

The surgery is equipped for disabled access.  Special arrangements will be made for those patients who are unable to use the stairs leading to the upstairs consulting rooms.   If you require special assistance please telephone the surgery beforehand and we will make every effort to accommodate you.

Parking

There is a large public car park in Barns Crescent.  Unfortunately the courtyard outside the surgery must be reserved for doctors’ cars and for staff of the two other offices who use the building.
